The Norton Rose Fulbright litigation group in Calgary is recognized as a leading practice for complex, high-value disputes across Canada and globally. Our team has deep expertise in energy and infrastructure, regulatory frameworks, and commercial litigation. We are also committed to advancing work in Aboriginal law and Indigenous legal issues, and act as counsel on many complex matters involving title claims, rights-based litigation, and regulatory proceedings.

Our Calgary office is seeking a mid-level litigation associate (3–5 years of experience) who is passionate about:

  • Aboriginal law litigation and Indigenous legal issues, including rights-based claims and constitutional matters.
  • Regulatory and administrative law, including hearings before tribunals and regulatory bodies.
  • In-court trial experience, with a strong interest in advocacy and courtroom work.
  • Alternative dispute resolution and negotiations, including mediation and collaborative processes.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, collaborative, and eager to develop expertise in litigation involving Indigenous rights, regulatory frameworks, and complex commercial disputes.

You will be focusing on:

  • Assisting as counsel with a wide variety of complex litigation and regulatory matters in the areas mentioned above
  • Drafting and presenting strong legal arguments through memos, briefs, facta, and court appearances
  • Mentoring students and junior associates

What you bring to the role:

  • 3-5 years’ experience gained within a reputable practice with significant exposure to complex litigation matters
  • Excellent client service, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Willingness to take initiative
