The Coordinator - Events role within Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority will be for the administration, planning and coordination of SLFNHA and community events. The Coordinator - Events will build relationships with communities, outside organizations and SLFNHA departments.
The Coordinator - Events is directly accountable to the Manager - Corporate Services.Β
2024 Salary Range: $61,394 - $82,463
Qualifications:
- Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment).
- Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone is an asset.
- Diploma in Event Management, Project Management, Marketing, or a related field. Or a combination of education and work experience suitable to the employer.
- Minimum of 1-year proven experience in event planning, project coordination.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage complex tasks and deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in event management software and project management tools.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems, make effective decisions, resolve conflicts, and manage time effectively.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as required for events.
- Must have a valid driving license and a reliable vehicle, for travel between differing venues and SLFNHA property.
- Must be willing to travel, travel will include small airplanes and winter roads.
- Must be prepared to work outdoors when required in differing weather conditions.
- The ability to perform the requirements of the position on a regular basis.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with various departments to envision, plan, and complete SLFNHA and Community events.
- Ensures and works with SLFNHA Anishinaabewaadiziwin Department to ensure cultural aspects and tradition are significantly represented within events and activities, bringing in community and elder support whenever possible.
- Develop detailed project plans and timelines for events and initiatives.
- Oversee all logistical aspects, including venue selection, catering, and technical requirements.
- Create and manage event budgets, ensuring that expenses align with financial goals.
- Source cost-effective solutions and negotiate with vendors.
- Work closely with the SLFNHA Communication, and other SLFNHA along with our community partners to bring awareness of upcoming events.
- Work with Communications and other SLFNHA departments to create event-related content and promotional materials.
- Recruit, train, and supervise event employees and other department staff assisting.
- Ensure seamless coordination among all event participants.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all event details including reports prior and post event.
- Build and maintain relationships with communities outside organizations and other stakeholders.
- Foster collaboration and communication among internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify potential risks associated with events and projects and develop mitigation plans.
- Ensure compliance with occupational Health and Safety.
- Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
