Indigenous Awareness & Outreach is looking for a motivated summer student to provide vital administrative and project support. In this role, you’ll help manage projects and research and update documents. We encourage Indigenous candidates to self-identify when applying and bring their unique perspectives to this role.
What will you do?
- Provide administration support to the Indigenous Awareness and Outreach Consultant
- Conduct research regarding Indigenous/First Peoples
- Assist with project management in collaboration with internal and external partners
- Update Indigenous Awareness webpage and google site
- Provide support to the Edmonton Indigenous Employee Resource Network (EIERN)
- Participate with Indigenous Community, events and provide support to the Indigenous Awareness & Outreach Consultant
- General office duties; clerical support using google applications
- Other duties as required

- Enrolled in second or third year of post secondary studies
- As this is part of the Indigenous Summer Student Program, applicants must be First Peoples of Canada; First Nations (Status/Non-Status), Métis or Inuit
Assets:
- Experience working or volunteering with Indigenous First Peoples (First Nations (Status/Non-Status), Métis or Inuit) projects or communities
- Previous Indigenous awareness training
- Experience in program development or coordination
- Previous experience using and applying project management tools
- Previous experience conducting research and synthesizing the results with recommendations
Skills Required for Success:
- Oral and written communication skills with the ability to express ideas and concepts effectively
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Previous experience creating presentations in multiple media formats
- Proficiency using Google applications such as Gmail, Docs, Sheets and Slides
- Ability to engage, create and maintain relationships with community members and internal and external partners

Work Environment:

- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance
