The University and Employment Preparation Department at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for sessional lecturer to teach the following course sections (including labs) in Winter 2025: BIOL 0600-01, BIOL 0600-02, BIOL 0600-03 (Human Biology)
Course description: A study of the major principles of human anatomy and physiology from the origin of atoms and elements through to the structure and function of molecules, cells, tissues, organs and body systems. Introduces the basic principles of Genetics and Evolution. Laboratory work involves organizing observations, drawing conclusions and effective communication.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field required
• At least one degree in science required
• Teaching Certificate or Instructor’s Diploma or 5 years teaching experience required
• Experience teaching students whose educational, social and economic backgrounds are diverse, and for whom previous school experience may have been challenging required
• Demonstrated evidence of scholarly teaching required
• Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in ABE science courses preferred
• Skills in building intercultural understanding, empathy and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) preferred
• Experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) preferred
• Teaching excellence including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) preferred
