We are currently looking to hire a highly organized and deadline driven individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment to join our Capital Accounting Team, within our Accounting Services department, as an Accounting Analyst Assistant. 

What You Will Do


Reporting to the Manager, Capital Accounting, you will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing financial information related to capital assets and supporting the month-end and year-end financial reporting process.

 

Responsibility includes maintaining and updating TTC’s Capital Internal Orders (IO), ensuring accuracy and completeness in recording and reporting of capital projects, ensuring capital project costs are appropriately charged to relevant projects and providing ongoing reporting control through the maintenance of various databases and expenditure reports.  This role will be the primary contact for period end and year-end accruals and must effectively communicate to various internal teams.

 

Further, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate recording and reconciliation of capital assets by maintaining up-to-date capital asset inventories, processing acquisitions and disposals, and aligning records with TTC financial statements.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • A University Degree, or College Diploma in a related discipline (i.e., Accounting, Business etc.) or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent (combined with a few years of similar or related work experience).
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, strong mathematical skills, journal entry preparation, account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and demonstrates ability to perform work accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of and experience with SAP is preferred
    Enrolment in the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) program is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) accounting standards is preferred 
    Knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft software (e.g. Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to exercise judgement to identify unusual transactions, balances or circumstances for investigation and follow-up.
  • Experience and comfortable working with external auditors.
  • Must have good organizational skills in order to prioritize high volume work and have the ability to handle multiple tight deadlines.
  • Must possess good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to handle inquiries efficiently and effectively and resolve issues with other departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a positive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Committed to continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Creative thinker with a focus on process improvement and efficiency, while maintaining robust internal controls.
  • Sound knowledge of office methods, practices and procedures.
